Announcing the Formation of Panoramic Ventures

Press Release

ATLANTA, GA / February 8, 2021 We have some news we're excited to share: BIP Capital has rebranded its venture division as Panoramic Ventures. Since you're reading this blog, you're already on our new Panoramic website, so welcome! Panoramic's formation is the result of a partnership between BIP Capital and highly successful entrepreneur and investor Paul Judge. The full Panoramic team, however, is comprised of 24 members offering decades of experience, both as founders and investors, who collectively have invested in over 200 startups and have achieved billions in exit proceeds.

Panoramic's core mission is to fund companies in the Southeast, Midwest, and other regions across the country where high-potential businesses are often overlooked. This "wider-view approach" to investing is how Panoramic got its name. Racial and gender diversity is also a focus of Panoramic, with the goal of opening more doors for often underserved and underrepresented founders. We will also continue to pursue innovative companies founded by professors, graduate students, and undergraduates at colleges and universities.

Consider these facts:

  • The Southeast and Midwest receive only 14 percent of VC funding even though they include 44 percent of the country's population. Further, 36 percent of last year's Inc. 5000 reside in these regions with a median growth of 161 percent year-over-year.
  • Black founders receive less than 1% of VC funding and women founders receive less than 3%.
  • U.S. universities conduct over $83 billion in research and development every year from which thousands of new startups are launched annually.

It is our mission to support these tenets of "geography, diversity, and university" through Panoramic Ventures' investments. Both BIP Capital and Judge have been making investments in the Southeast and Midwest for a number of years, and with much success. The Panoramic team also has a track record of backing minority and women founders, including LeaseQuery, Cove.tool, OncoLens, and Eventeny. Previous investments coming out of colleges and universities include Pindrop, Carbice, Pointivo, and Car360.

Like BIP Capital, Panoramic Ventures is based in Atlanta, which offers a vibrant and growing ecosystem that includes a strong presence of colleges, corporations, and culture. Metro Atlanta is home to 30 Fortune 1000 corporations and has nearly 300,000 students at its colleges and universities ranging from Georgia Tech and Emory University to historic Black colleges. Overall, the area is well positioned for a venture fund that can support and accelerate tech innovation.

We're very excited about what the future holds for Panoramic Ventures and the companies it will help to grow and succeed. Promising entrepreneurs, we want you to know that we "see" you — whoever and wherever you are.

Update: In June 2023, Panoramic became a fund within BIP Ventures, the core North American Venture Products within BIP Capital.
