Stephen Joy
Stephen Joy joined BIP Ventures in 2020, bringing with him valuable startup experience as a founder and in venture capital. As a Vice President on the Investment Team, he deploys that expertise to support the growth and scale of our portfolio companies.
Before joining BIP Ventures, Stephen owned and operated the startup Tack, a digital tipping platform that helped service workers through the COVID-19 pandemic. He led Tack to a spot on Poets and Quants most disruptive MBA startups of 2020 list.Before launching his company, Stephen was an Associate for New Stack Ventures, investing in IoT, DeepTech, and B2B SaaS. He also was a Principal Engineer at SaaS data analytics firm Applied Predictive Technologies (acquired by MasterCard). While there, he brought six big-data SaaS products to market, three of which won industry awards for innovation.
Stephen earned an an MBA from Darden, University of Virginia and a B.S. in Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He is an avid startup mentor, software tinkerer, and soccer player, coach, and referee.
